Fitness Without The Gym

Ditch the rowing machine itch!

Fitness Without The Gym

Treadmill got you feeling the heel-toe-heel-toe woes? The headline you’ve been aching for is here. We don’t have to adorn ourselves in fluorescent Lorna Jane and head to a pongy gym to be fit, praise!

Treetops Challenge

The High Ropes Challenge has you forgetting how long you've been climbing, running, leaping and crawling for while you're suspended amongst the treetops with lush national park surroundings. One trip isn't enough so luckily there are two locations on the coast:
Currumbin - above the Wildlife Sanctuary, 28 Tomewin St
Tamborine Mountain - Thunderbird Park, Corner Cedar Creek Falls Road

Book here.

Indoor Rock Climbing

The Paramount Adventure Centre is a big kids paradise. Surprisingly rewarding team walls sure to work hidden muscles you didn't know you had. If feeling brazen enough take on the telegraph pole challenge, take a friend.

Pilates Barre

Pilates Barre classes at Essence of Living centres are a fast paced hour of dance-meets-pilates exercise you'll feel only the following day. Instructor Bonnie is lovely and accomodating for any level of fitness or flexibility. The class mixes up the usual dire circumstances we're able to grow a six back in, by changing between floor, ballet barre and sitting cycles incorporating various props.

These classes are available in Mermaid Beach & Southport and won't break the bank. See the timetable here.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Go Vertical Stand Up Paddle Hire is a roving SUP hire company based in Northern Gold Coast. There's nothing more serene than floating around on the water and quietly working on your abdominals..

Follow their insta for daily locations or call 0423 716 625

Aerial Acrobatics

The Aerial Circus School in Biggera Waters is a surprisingly intense work out. Increased upper body strength can be expected after visiting their silks or hoops, along with confidence and a new party trick...

Info here.

Skypoint

If climbing the Q1's Skypoint doesn't alleviate you of your physical burdens, nothing will. This isn't a walk in the park though, 230 metres and 90 minutes to complete the climb and you've done the equivalent of your routine work out. Seventy7cafe & bar is located on the observation deck too, because lord knows you'll need a drink after finishing. Throw your adrenalin junky friend a bone and get there.
